Who We Are:
A Land Conservancy for the North Shore of O‘ahu
Perhaps you come with your family to the North Shore every weekend or maybe
you are able to visit only once a year. Drive along the coast and watch the
surfers. Dream of a bike trail from Honolulu to the North Shore. Or see an open
space vista from your window every morning.
Maybe you just like knowing that such places are simply there, out of sight
but well within your reach. Since 1997 we've been working to ensure exactly
that.
Our Goal
We see unprecedented opportunities for NSCLT to acquire and
protect North Shore land with open space value.
These lands include forested hillsides and coastal farms, naupaka-shaded
beaches and coconut groves, grassy meadows and wind-swept vistas. Unique and
irreplaceable, each has exceptional natural resource, cultural, agricultural, recreational
and/or scenic attributes.
Many of these properties will link previously protected land, adding more
green space to the map of the North Shore. Others contain endangered species and
offer the potential for miles of new trails.
How NSCLT Works
NSCLT must have the funds on hand to purchase these lands when they become
available, especially as the real estate market continues to rebound. Unless we
have a ready reserve of land acquisition capital, these lands could be developed
and their open space value destroyed.
We Can Do It - With Your Help
Today, there are few sources of public funds for land acquisition. It will be
up to us, the people who love open space and the North Shore, to raise the funds
needed to permanently protect these lands. We can't depend upon others to
preserve and protect this special community.
Our supporters live all over, from Hale'iwa to Kahuku, from
Mokuleia to Wahiawa, and from Honolulu to California and give to NSCLT at every
level. Together, we can do it.
Your support helps create a “land bank” of available funds to purchase,
protect, and manage lands until NSCLT can transfer this open space into public
or restricted private ownership.
Every acre you help save means another untouched vista or new trailhead,
another place where wildlife can thrive and where we can pause to reflect or play.
